Guest: Georgie Fame, vocals
The brand-new, 18-piece orchestra led by pianist Peter Beets and band leader & arranger Henk Meutgeert returns with several concerts. A different soloist or theme is central to each concert. The orchestra’s namesakes crown their years of fruitful collaboration with this platform for a new generation of jazz musicians. Led by these two highly experienced leaders, this big band guarantees surprising solo and ensemble playing, harmonic depth, experiment and of course a good dose of swing.
Tonight they share the stage with British legend Georgie Fame. Fame and the New Jazz Orchestra go back to the turbulent sixties of London: sixties, the mods and Fred Perry, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and blues. Night after night Georgie Fame sang in the hippest clubs in London and scored world hits with Yeh Yeh and Bonnie & Clyde. Together they pay tribute to this exciting period in music history.
